For the 2012 season, the main focus was on the timely and regular production of the prototype. The goal was the successful participation in the Formula Student Combustion competition in August at the Hockenheimring. But all expectations were exceeded. If you were glad to have finished the car in time, more and more points were ticked on the “nice-to-have list”: technical acceptance made, to complete all disciplines, dynamic and static, without failure, than half of all teams. Even the last point, with a total of 37 participants from 77 participants, was proudly fulfilled.
From the first participation in this competition, we have gained a lot of experience. We are now working on a much more competitive racing car and will test our results at the end of July / beginning of August and the end of August at the Formula Student Germany and Formula Student Austria competitions.
In the long run, our commitment to the Formula Student is complemented by intensive experience with design and manufacturing as well as with the economic aspects of automotive construction and project management.
In the long term, we would like to establish ourselves, together with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal and our sponsors and partners, in the racing series Formula Student. The aim is to establish a permanent institution at the university, which is of great benefit to both the students and the business community.
Since, in addition to a certain budget, know-how and man-power are required to achieve these goals, we have set ourselves the goal of integrating students from all disciplines at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal into the project in order to create its own brand. This is intended to promote our university, our city, but also our sponsors and supporters. As a result, we want to convince young people of the technology and to show them which outstanding projects at our university are brought to life.
